Central Church of Christ

Central Church of Christ is on the east side of West Plains at Butler Street and Business 63. The church is served with Dr. Pat Casey as pulpit minister, seven elders and 11 deacons.

The Sunday morning worship begins at 9:30 a.m. Bible study at 10:45 a.m. and evening worship at 5:30 p.m. Children's Bible Hour for age 2 through 6 is 10 a.m. during the adult worship time.

Jim and Lee Laughary serve as educational directors. Dr. R.A. Pendergrass teaches Sunday morning Bible class in the main auditorium. Bob Spencer teaches the Wednesday night auditorium class. Other classes are available in other areas of the educational building. Ladies Bible Class meets each Wednesday night at 7 p.m. A class on "Bible Fundamentals" meets each Sunday morning at 10:45 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall, with refreshments served.

A Youth Center recently opened where the young people assemble for games, meals, fellowship and Bible study. Other ministries include an exercise class at 9 a.m. each Tuesday and Friday; Secret Sisters; a Stuffed Animal ministry for hospital, ambulance barn and other establishments where children are in need of comfort; knitting of lap throws for nursing homes; meals prepared and served Wednesdays at 6 p.m.; and a potluck the second Sunday of each month with an early worship service at 12:45 p.m.

Central supports several mission efforts, two orphan homes and has a well-supplied food pantry to help meet the needs of the community.

Central members are encouraged to assemble on Sunday to worship, giving praise and thanksgiving to God and then go forth during the week living a good life that will be a blessing to others.
