ALL-CHURCH MEETING

For the evening service, which starts at 5:30 PM, we will assemble in the small auditorium. At the beginning of the service the Lord’s Supper will be offered to anyone who needs to partake of it and then we will have an all-church discussion concerning the future of a youth and family minister. The Bible teaches that we are to have vision and look to the future and certainly the elders want to lead as the word of the Lord teaches. Let’s pray, plan and work in order to do the things that need to be done in our generation. For Central to go and grow, each of us must do what we can.

WORK TO BE DONE

In the next few weeks needed work will be done in and around the building. Some roof work, stage area and the parking lot are projects that are to be done. If at times, especially around the stage, it appears that it could look better, then just wait a few days and we anticipate all will be pleased with the renovation. We appreciate every member for your love, patience and your continued effort to work and serve as you can.

BIBLE

The church should be filled with members who are good students of the Bible. Years ago an elder said, “One reason he enjoyed teaching a Bible class is because it caused him to really study the Word.” Somebody has listed the TOP TEN signs you may not be reading your Bible enough:

10. The preacher announces the sermon is from Galatians…and you check the table of contents.
9. You think Abraham. Isaac and Jacob may have had a few hit songs during the 60’s.
8. You open up to the Gospel of Luke and WWII savings bonds fall out.
7. Your favorite Old Testament patriarch is Hercules.
6. Your favorite Bible verse is “Cleanliness is next to godliness.”
5. You become frustrated because Charlton Heston is not listed in either the concordance or the table of contents.
4. Catching the kids reading the Song of Solomon, you demand “Who gave you this stuff?”
3. You think the Minor Prophets worked in Solomon’s Gold Mines.
2. You keep falling for it every time the preacher tells you to turn to chapter 3 in Hezekiah.

And the number one sign that you may not be reading your Bible enough:
1. The kids keep asking too many questions about your usual bed time story: “Jonah the Shepherd Boy and His Ark of Many Colors.”

BLESSINGS

The Lord blesses His people with many good things. Some we may be aware of and some we may not. I was reminded of this a few days ago when I was reading Jimmy Allen’s book, Rebaptism. On page 208 Jimmy states, “I believe and teach that every Christian has angels as ministers or guardians who work in his behalf…” As the Bible teaches we are to walk (live) by faith and by faith we gather on the First Day of the Week to sing, pray, preach and commune with the Lord at the Lord’s table and also make an offering. You are missed when you are not in your place. Come with a Bible in your hand and a spring in your step and a smile on your face. I’ll look for you.
