SPECIAL STUDY

For about four weeks we will do a study on the subject of giving. The class will begin today and go through September. The elders want to encourage every member to be a part of this study. The class will be in the main auditorium and it will be taught by R.A. Pendergrass. Thanks for his willingness to teach. Remember all adults will remain in the auditorium after the 9:30 AM worship service.

WED. PM

As you observed this past Wednesday night, we assembled in the main auditorium to begin with and then to class. We encourage all men who lead us to keep the devotional short. Also we need to make sure that we begin at 7:00 PM. Perhaps the devotional time should not be over ten minutes because it will take a little time for everybody to make their way to class.

SERVERS

Also beginning this month, Tim Cozort and R.A. Pendergrass will be in charge of coordinating the services. Doy Young will continue coordinating the time and men who will direct the song service. Men if you are on to serve then be in your place before the service begins so these coordinators don’t have to spend time looking for you and then if they don’t find you, it is necessary at the last minute to get someone to take your place. Again we thank Harvey Coldiron for his good work of many years. Harvey will continue to help as he is needed.

TEACHING

While writing about responsibility and dependability, I want to mention another important area of church work. Teaching our children, teens and adults in this church is mighty important. Why? Because we are helping make, mold and shape souls for life and eternity. We appreciate the good and faithful work that Jim and Lee Laughary do in directing the Educational Department. Some things that we can do as teachers: One, we can pray and prepare. Two, we can be on time. Three, we can enjoy our work as teachers. Four, we can faithfully teach the Bible. Five, we can be a good example. Six, we can be sure to let Jim and Lee know in plenty of time if and when we need to be away. Let us pledge ourselves to do these and other good things.

DRIVERS

The new bus needs some new drivers to help the good men who have faithfully driven for years. If you are about 30 to 60 years of age then the Lord can use you to drive for Him. If you are willing to drive then talk with deacon Matt Chezem or call the church office . Remember that Dan Holloway will coordinate all service and repairs on the buses.

SUNDAY

Next Sunday Arvil Hill will be here and Central is always glad to have Arvil and Sally Hill with us. They are wonderful people. Also next Sunday will be the Big-All-Church-Meal time. Bring plenty of good food and let’s have a good time of fellowship. Immediately after the Big Meal we will have a short service and that will conclude the gatherings of the day. Use the rest of the day to enjoy your family and others. Every Sunday be in your place to worship. Come with a Bible in your hand and a spring in your step and a smile on your face. I’ll look for you in your place.

From R.A. ……………….Opportunities

  • Beginning September 1st there will be a short assembly to begin the Wednesday evening worship/study time. We want to have the younger boys-men take a leading role in this assembly. We need them to lead a song, read a Bible passage, give a 3-4 minute devotional and pray. Please encourage and help your son take a part in this. This is an opportunity to learn and become more comfortable in leading our assembly time.
  • After services on September 12th we will meet and develop an activity calendar. This will probably be for October-November-December. Please attend if you want to put something on the calendar, or if you have an idea that someone else might develop into an activity. Some things I thought of for this calendar: Secret Sisters, 39ers, Game Night, youth activities, singings, etc.
  • Fun in the Park for children ages 2 yrs. through 2nd grade will be on September 17th. This will be from 1:00 - 2:30 PM. See Betty Pitcock or Shannon Cameron for details. There is a signup sheet on the back table.
  • Parents Night Out will occur again on September 18th. There is a signup sheet on the back table. Times will be approximately 6:00 - 9:30 PM. See Nellie Barnett for details.
  • September 24th-25th is Camp Repeat-Retreat at the Prairie Bible Camp. A flyer is on the bulletin board in the foyer. This is an opportunity for children 4th grade and up to have a fun and devotional experience. See R.A. for a registration form
  • September 25th is homecoming day at the Children’s Homes in Paragould. Brother Hill is inviting us to bring a group to help with set-up and clean-up. Between set-up and clean-up we will enjoy the festivities of the day. It would be super if some of our young people could go, along with some adults. This is an opportunity to give to others. A temporary signup sheet is on the back table.
  • What about a special service for November 24th, Thanksgiving eve? Maybe a time of lots of different people giving thanks, singing songs that the younger people know and like, starting or ending with turkey sandwiches and pumpkin pie. My thought is designing the evening for our-church-as-a-family theme and inviting all ages.
