TODAY

Today is the time to worship and praise the Lord. All over the world Christians assemble on the First Day of the Week. You are missed when you are not in your place. Besides a time to worship, for Central it is a time for the All-Church-Family-Report. The singing and sermon will be some shorter and then the report. We will get out at the regular time which is about 10:30 AM. The Special Offering is this Sunday and if you are not prepared today but want to give later then just give it to Frank Pitcock and indicate in some way that you want it to go to the Special Offering. Thanks to all who give extra.

SEPT. 12TH

September 12th will be the Sunday when the Children’s Homes in Paragould will send someone to give a report on the work there. We have asked for Arvil Hill. He will preach a general sermon at 9:30 AM and then at class time he will give the report of the Children’s Homes. All adults will remain in the main auditorium. Also September 12th will be the Sunday that we resume our Second Sunday Meals. Get ready.

AUG. 27TH

Thanks to all who helped make the Friday night singing a great success. The food was great and the singing was outstanding. As some of you may know, Lynn Hixon, of the Pomona Church, has coordinated the singings for many years. This is not an easy job but with all his other work, brother Hixon faithfully does this work. Write him a note or tell him how much you appreciate him. He will be 87 on his next birthday, September 23rd.

OCT. 9TH-10TH

These are the dates for the Great Weekend at Silver Dollar City. Members of the Churches of Christ will be there from many parts. A number attend from Central. It is a time of fun, fellowship and also a time to be in a large gathering for an uplifting service.

WORSHIP & CLASS

Since school has begun and vacation time is over, let me encourage each member to be in Bible class and the assembly of worship every week. For reasons I know some cannot stay for Bible class, but if you can, it will be a time to bless and help you. There are two adult classes and one teen class and they start about 10:45 AM.

PSALM 122:1

How long has it been since you read and thought about Psalm 122:1? The words are “I was glad when they said to me, Let us go into the house of the Lord.” This verse expresses a tremendous attitude of joy and good anticipation. It seems that some of the Old Testament people were greatly moved by a time of worship and communion with the Lord. Are we? Be in your place. Come with a Bible in your hand and a spring in your step and a smile on your face. I’ll look for you.

From R.A. ……………….Opportunities

• Beginning September 1 there will be a short assembly to begin the Wednesday evening worship/study time. We want to have the younger boys-men take a leading role in this assembly. We need them to lead a song, read a Bible passage, give a 3-4 minute devotional and pray. Please encourage and help your son take a part in this. This is an opportunity to learn and become more comfortable in leading our assembly time.

• September 25 is homecoming day at the Children’s Homes in Paragould. Brother Hill is inviting us to bring a group to help with set-up and clean-up. Between set-up and clean-up we will enjoy the festivities of the day. It would be super if some of our young people could go, along with some adults. This is an opportunity to give to others. A temporary signup sheet is on the back table.

• September 24-25 is Camp Repeat-Retreat at the Prairie Bible Camp. A flyer is on the bulletin board in the foyer. This is an opportunity for children 4th grade and up to have a fun and devotional experience. See R.A. for a registration form.

• Parents Night Out will occur again on September 18th.

If I Wanted To

 If I wanted to. I could help make this church the most wide awake and working church in the world.
 If I wanted to, I could visit members who are sick or home bound and find other ways of helping them.
 If I wanted to, I could attend Bible classes regularly and encourage others to do the same.
 If I wanted to, I could show more devotion in worship and receive much more good from the service myself.
 If I wanted to, I could profit more from the sermon by not resenting the truth when it reveals some of my weaknesses.
 If I wanted to, I could tell others about Christ and His church and lead them to Him.

Of course, this all depends on what I want to do. I could be an honored servant of the greatest of all kings. I have the ability – if I really want to.
